Syniverse Technologies (Tampa, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,184,356 on Nov. 23, 2021, for a system for user equipment authentication. This provides enhanced security for a third-party merchant’s online platform using multi-factor authentication. Ravi Tandon was the lead inventor for Syniverse. Additional inventors were Huiyue Xu and Himanshu Garg. Attorney Andriy Lytvyn prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

Entangle Media, LLC

Entangle Media (Oldsmar, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,182,338 on Nov. 23, 2021, for managing interactive files in chronological order. The system assigns date-time associations from extracted data and organizes it chronologically. John Shim was the lead inventor. Joint-inventors included Mark Pinson and Kyrylo Zinovyev. Attorney Paul Murty prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

University of South Florida

University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,181,482 on Nov. 23, 2021, for a mobile colorimetric assay device. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is one of the most important technologies for biochemical analysis. It is used for disease detection such as ovarian cancer.  Anna Pyayt  was the lead inventor. Joint-inventors included Arsenii Zhdanov, Jordan Keefe and Luis Franco-Waite. Attorney Michele Lawson prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen

Florida A&M University

Florida A&M University (Tallahassee, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,179,334 on Nov. 23, 2021, for targeted carriers for tacrolimus for ocular inflammation. The invention provides therapies to relieve conditions such as dry eye, corneal inflammation after ocular surgeries (e.g., LASIK, cataract, etc.), keratitis, conjunctivitis, etc. Mandip Sachdeva  was the lead inventor. Joint-inventors included Imran Vhora and Shallu Kutlehria. Attorney Michele Lawson prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen

Vanguard Products Group

Vanguard Products Group, (Oldsmar, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,178,983 on Nov. 23, 2021, for a retail security locking system for wearable electronics, particularly smart watches. This allows consumers to interact with the product but also prevent theft. Christopher Kelsch was the lead inventor. Joint-inventors included Jasen Biggins, Lee Eckert and John “Jack” Figh. Attorney Andriy Lytvyn prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

Syniverse Technologies

Syniverse Technologies (Tampa, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,178,708 on Nov. 16, 2021, for 5G traffic routing. “Network slicing” on 5G adapts network resource to the type of mobile device. Syniverse’s invention efficiently and effectively implements network slicing in existing IPX networks. Edward Yau was the lead inventor for Syniverse. Additional inventors were Huiyue Xu, Prashant Datar, Ravi Tandon and Rakesh Mehta. Attorney Andriy Lytvyn prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

Syniverse Technologies (Tampa, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,178,542 on Nov. 16, 2021, for securing data communications between different devices not reachable by the public Internet. Specifically, these are devices on different service provider networks. Huiyue Xu was the lead inventor for Syniverse. Additional inventors were Deliang Qian, Zhengcao Zhang and Boyong Chen. Attorney Andriy Lytvyn prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

University of Central Florida

University of Central Florida (Orlando, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,177,473 on Nov. 16, 2021, for stable, flexible batteries using tin sulfide film. Uses include portable electronic devices, electric grids and electric vehicles. Yang Yang was the lead inventor for UCF. Attorney Paul Murty prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

University of North Florida

University of North Florida (Jacksonville, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,174,831 on Nov. 16, 2021, for harnessing wave energy. A submerged flexible membrane translates wave motion to a turbine to generate energy. Donald Resio was the lead inventor for UNF. Additional inventors include Abdallah El Safety, Michelle Vierira, Ashley Norton, Brian Kopp and William Dally. Attorney Paul Murty prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.

Ivan Li Chuen Yeoh

Ivan Yeoh (Tampa, Florida) secured U.S. Patent 11,173,656 on Nov. 16, 2021, for an additive manufacturing system (e.g., 3D printing). Specifically, Yeoh improved the materials and output structures such as yarn-like inputs forming subunits. Ivan Yeoh was the lead inventor. Attorney Paul Murty prosecuted the patent on behalf of Smith & Hopen.
