Today, June 2, 2020, Taylor Made received another golf ball design patent. Taylor Made’s golf ball design patent issued as Patent No.: US D886,218. As shown below, the golf ball has a partial star shape disposed on its surface. There are also smaller stars and stripes residing within the perimeter of the primary partial star design. I suspect that Taylor Made will release this ball with a plurality of these partial star shaped designs. As you can see, the design has a plurality of these partial star shapes around the surface of the golf ball with all but one depicted in environment.
I personally haven’t seen this design commercially available, yet. Taylor Made might release the golf ball for the fourth of July. The clear patriotic theme of the ball makes the fourth of July a perfect release date. Even though we don’t know if Taylor Made will sell a golf ball with the design, we know that Taylor Made owns the rights to this design. Fortunately for Taylor Made, the design patent prevents competitors from providing a similar golf ball design.
Taylor Made’s golf ball design patent will prevent competitors from selling a similar design for the next 15 years. More specifically, the patent excludes other from selling golf ball designs that an ordinary observer believes embodies the patented design.
