Michele Lawson advises clients in all areas of intellectual property law including patents, trademarks and copyrights. Ms. Lawson has successfully prosecuted over 180 patents through issuance. Ms. Lawson concentrates her practice in the biological and chemical arts, as well as biomedical devices.

Ms. Lawson has extensive experience in both drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a broad spectrum of technological disciplines including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, vaccines and immunotherapies with a concentration on biotechnological applications focusing on oncology, immunology, neurology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, and genetics.

Ms. Lawson has substantial experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for large research institutions relating to small and large molecule therapeutics; pharmaceuticals; nanoparticle delivery systems; stem cell therapies; antimicrobials; vaccines; immunotherapies; molecular and cellular biological screening assays; immunoassays; wound therapies; nucleic acid-based diagnostics; antibody technologies; biomarker technologies; and gene therapies and diagnostics. In addition, Ms. Lawson has drafted and successfully drafted and prosecuted several medical device patent applications spanning a large range of technologies including devices for use by orthopedic surgeons, ophthalmologists, gynecologists, cardiologists, neurologists, gastroenterologists, otolaryngologists, audiologists, hematologists, colon and rectal surgeons, dermatologists, radiologists, plastic surgeons, urologists and vascular surgeons.

Ms. Lawson earned both a Master of Science in Medical Sciences, with thesis, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida. While earning her degrees, Ms. Lawson worked as a graduate lab assistant conducting experiments relating to viruses such as HIV and influenza. Ms. Lawson drafted and successfully defended a thesis entitled “Change of TCR V Beta CDR3 Length Distribution in CD4 T Cells of Influenza Vaccinated Subjects”.

Ms. Lawson earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law. Prior to earning her legal degree, Ms. Lawson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Otterbein College.

Ms. Lawson is admitted to practice law before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Ohio and Florida bars.
